Privacy Policy
Effective October 21, 2026
Steady Learners (“we”, “us”) makes the Steady Learners app — daily practice in math, reading and spelling for children ages 4–10 — and the website steadylearners.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be plain: if anything is unclear, email support@steadylearners.com.
The short version
- A parent or guardian creates the account. Children use the app; they don’t sign up, and we don’t ask them for contact details.
- There are no ads and no advertising trackers in the app. We never sell personal information.
- When the app listens to a child reading a book aloud, the speech is recognized on the phone itself. No audio is recorded, saved or sent to us or anyone else.
- You can delete your family’s data at any time.
What we collect in the app
- The parent’s account: your email address and password (stored securely by our account provider; we never see your password), or, if you choose “Sign in with Google”, your name and email from Google.
- Your children’s profiles: a first name or nickname you choose, a picture from our set, an age, and the lessons you pick.
- Learning progress: lessons practised, right and not-quite answers, time spent, words spelled, books and pages read, acorns earned, and rewards requested. This is what makes the app work: it picks what comes next and shows you progress.
- The parent PIN stays on your phone only (as a scrambled “hash”); it is never sent to us.
- Notifications: if you allow them, a token that lets us send notifications to your phone (for example practice reminders or a request for a reward).
- Purchases: which plan or sections you have. Payment itself is handled by Apple or Google; we never receive your card details.
- Codes: referral and promo codes you use or share.
- How you found us: if you came through one of our links (a friend’s invite, or a link in a post or ad), the link’s labels — for example “tiktok” or “a friend’s invite” — are saved with your account when you sign up. On Android, Google Play passes these labels to the app when it’s installed. We use this only to count which channels bring families to Steady Learners; it isn’t shared with anyone.
- Support: anything you send us when you email us.
The microphone and read-aloud listening
In the read-along books, the app can listen while your child reads a page aloud, so it can tell which words were read right and help with the others. This only happens with your permission (you can say no, or turn it off any time in your phone’s Settings). The words are recognized by your phone’s own on-device speech recognition. No recording is made, and no audio leaves the phone. We only keep how much of each book was read right, to choose the next book.
What we collect on the website
- Your email, if you join the launch list, so we can tell you when the app is live (and send you a launch offer).
- How you found us: when you open the site from one of our tagged links, we count the visit with the link’s labels (such as “instagram”) and your type of device (iPhone, Android or computer) — no IP address or other details. If you join the launch list, the same labels are saved with your email. This is our own count of what works, not advertising, and isn’t shared.
- Visits and advertising: the website uses the Meta Pixel. It records visits to the site (with cookies or similar technology) so we can show Steady Learners ads to people who visited, and avoid showing them to people who already signed up. This is considered “sharing” personal information for advertising under California law. You can turn it off with “Do not share my information” at the bottom of every page; we also honor browser privacy signals where required. The app itself does not use it.
How we use information
- To run the app: lessons, progress, rewards, reminders, and keeping your family’s data in step across your devices.
- To run your account: sign-in, password resets, receipts, and important service emails.
- To tell launch-list subscribers when the app is available.
- To keep the service safe and working, and to improve it.
Children’s privacy
Steady Learners is designed for children but set up and managed by parents and guardians. We collect from or about a child only what’s needed for the learning features above. We don’t show children ads, don’t let them contact others, don’t ask them for personal information, and don’t use their information for advertising. A parent can review, change or delete a child’s information at any time in the Parent Portal, or by emailing us. If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent’s consent, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run Steady Learners, only to provide the service to you:
- Supabase — account sign-in and storing your family’s data (in the United States).
- Resend — sending emails (sign-up confirmations, password reset codes, launch updates).
- Expo — delivering notifications to your phone.
- Apple and Google — the app stores, payments, and Google sign-in if you use it.
- Meta advertising — on the website only, as described above.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (with this policy still applying). We do not sell personal information.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete everything in the app (Parent Portal → Account → “Reset app & delete all data”), or email us and we’ll delete your account and your children’s data. To leave the launch list, reply to any of our emails or contact us.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access limited to your own account. No method is perfect, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, in California), you can ask to know what we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of “sharing” for advertising. We won’t treat you differently for using these rights. Email support@steadylearners.com; we may need to confirm it’s you.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above, and for important changes we’ll let you know in the app or by email.
